There was a time when it seemed that nothing could come between singer Lady Gaga and blogger (and self-titled) “critic” Perez Hilton. Today, they are at each other’s throat, airing their dirty laundry on their respective Twitter feeds.

Though Lady Gaga hardly ever goes after someone on social media, she had enough when a fan tweeted to let her know that they’d seen Perez Hilton in the lobby of her New York City apartment building.

Given their history, which she only hints at, she concluded that he was stalking her.

“TAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!” Gaga tweeted to Perez.

She then wrote that such instances of stalking could be an indicator of things to come.

“DO I NEED TO BE SHOT IT IN THE HEAD FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT HIM AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT HARASSES ME HAS GONE TOO FAR? I'M A HUMAN BEING,” Gaga wrote, obviously terribly upset.

Later, as her fans (her Little Monsters) started to attack Perez on the social networking website, and sending his (and his infant son) abusive messages, Gaga pled with them to “not be affected” because he doesn’t deserve “this kind of hatred.”

In response, Perez is calling her a liar.

In a lengthy statement on his blog (linked on Twitter), he writes that, the day the fan saw him at Gaga’s place, he was merely “innocently house-hunting” because he’d been thinking of moving back to NYC for some time. He had no idea that she lived there.

He also hints that he was the one who “broke up” with Gaga, and not the other way around.

“While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life, I will say that I am a critic and not a ‘stalker.’ Any allegation that I am stalking her, based on a day of house hunting with my baby boy and my mother, is utterly false, defamatory and now appears to be putting me and my family in danger,” Perez writes.

“If her fans want to send a message of support to Lady GaGa, they should buy her music. Notwithstanding my feelings about our personal relationship, I do wish Lady GaGa happiness and continued success and I assure you my family house hunting has nothing to do with her,” he concludes by saying.
