Colorful designs, the same high-class sound

Well-renowned for the excellence of their product range, Audio Technica have finally decided it was high time for a special approach on the ladies' world and have therefore created and released a dedicated line of headphones designed for the female public.

Not that our girlfriends, wives or daughters had some special needs as far as the portable audio is concerned, but I guess it's just another marketing move, aiming to make our beloved partners open the wallet and cash out some bucks. Or make us do so.

[admark=1]The new Audio Technica headphone line brings nothing truly special on the technology side; we're talking about the same serious build producing high-class audio response, sporting pretty much the same features like any other headphones coming from this manufacturer.

From this rather simple point of view I'd say that this piece of news is more related to fashion than it is to audio technology, which happens to be my field. Nevertheless, the story goes on and there is one seemingly very important detail to everyone here: coloring and finishes.

The 5 new headsets come with special finishes and in warm, mild colors, meant to convince ladies that they have been built especially for them. In simple or metallic/pearloid finishes, the new Audio Technica headphones are sure to be easily matched with pretty much any style and worn in almost any place on any occasion, especially as they come with a feminine carrying case in a matching color, and simply perfect to lose in the purse.

Audio Technica brings forth the ATH-CK1W (CK does not stand for Calvin Klein), an in-ear headset available in green, orange, pink, purple, white and yellow retailing for just under $50. No reason to be scared, financially speaking, in case she asks you to buy them for her. Then come the ATH-ES3W on-ear headphones in blue, green, pink and silver, all metallic nuances and with folding construction. They'll set you back some $80.

The on-ear ATH-ON3W come for almost $60 and she can choose between the dark gray, pink, teal blue and white versions; folding design as well, no clutter in her handbag. Or so they say. The ATH-CK52W (also, nothing to do with Calvin Klein) will cost you 60 bucks but offer a choice of blue, black and white, while the last model, the ATH-CK6W, with an in-ear design, delivers an array of metallic silver, blue, green and pink finishes, each for just under $80.

All headphones come with cord-wraps for a neat cable management and are available now in major stores.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
