Coming to make its contribution to the market of consumer electronics, and the fields of entertainment and multimedia in particular, is LaCie, whose labs have now sent out the company's newest media player.

Basically, LaCie completed the development of its latest media player, one certain LaCinema Mini HD.

As its name implies, it is a more or less miniaturized device which has full support for even the highest image quality when playing video files.

Measuring a mere 118 x 118 x 40 mm, the machine combines a variety of features, from those necessary for the video playback to those needed by audio output and even network connectivity.

On the video side, the LaCinema Mini HD Bridge can play video content in quality of up to Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution).

The list of supported video codecs is composed of MPEG-1, MPEG-2 / HD, MPEG-4, DIVX, DIVX HD, XVID, H.264 HD, WMV9 HD and VC-1.

Additionally, the audio side of things is mostly covered by the built-in support for Dolby Digital and DTS audio, with the audio codec list being made up of MP3, WMA, AAC, MP4, WAV, OGG, FLAC and AC3 files.

Other specifications include 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, an HDMI 1.3 port, USB 2.0.

Finally, there is a 2.5-inch hard disk drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD) on the inside, plus support for streaming to DLNA-compatible devices.

All in all, it has a weight of 350 grams and is bundled with the necessary remote control, so that it may easily and quickly be accessed and directed by its owner.

Sales should already be underway in Europe, where the price is set at 160 Euro.
