Storage specialist LaCie has announced its latest external storage devices signed by industrial design specialist Neil Poulton. The drive comes with a triple interface including USB 2.0, eSATA, and Firewire 400 in order to maximize compatibility with the host system and ensure smooth data transfer rates.

The hard-drive enclosure features a glossy, fashioned design in a black mirror finish that wears the personality of the France-based designer Neil Poulton. The unit sports an intelligent passive cooling design that naturally draws air from underneath the casing in order to generate a constant airflow even if there are no active cooling elements.

"We are very excited to offer the new triple interface Hard Disk, Design by Neil Poulton," said Lise Manteau, LaCie Desktop Hard Drive Product Manager. "The USB-only version announced late last year has been very popular. With this new product offering, we are now able to reach customers who prefer faster transfer rates with FireWire 400 and eSATA 1.5Gbit connectivity."

The drive is strikingly similar to the previous Neil Poulton designs, and comes with the same discrete blue light situated underneath the drive to create the "rich ambient glow." The drives come in capacities of 500GB, 750GB and 1TB, in a compact form-factor.

The external hard-drive can be used in cross-platform computing environments, and has been extensively tested on both Mac and PC systems. The second FireWire port can be used to daisy-chain multiple units in order to maximize the storage capacity on a single FireWire cable.

LaCie bundles multiple pieces of software with the new offering, that can be run on both platforms. The drive automatically installs the software onto the host PC, in order to allow users to delete them from the original support, should they run out of space.

The external hard-disk is available immediately for purchase through LaCie's retail partners and sells at an estimative price of $149.99.
