14 DAY TRIAL // LaCie has decided to expand its storage product line and has introduced the newest Enterprise Class range of external hard drives. These new storage solutions are meant to fit the needs of creative professionals and those interested in keeping their data confidential. The drives employ government-grade 128-bit AES hardware encryption and the manager software can define up to ten users, protecting intellectual property even while providing customizable accessibility.
The product line is composed of the LaCie d2 Quadra Enterprise Class, LaCie 2big Quadra Enterprise Class, and the LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class. They provide six data-protection levels and are capable of high performance thanks to their use of “true internal SATA Enterprise Class disks, featuring 7200RPM and 32MB of cache memory.”
These disks enable a mean time before failure of 1.2 million hours. In addition, the products can achieve high transfer rates thanks to their optimization for RAID towers. For example, a RAID 50 array with four LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class units can reach a total speed of 700MB/s.

The drives are enclosed in aluminum and have customizable backup software, such as Genie Backup Manager Pro for Windows and Intego Backup Manager Pro for Mac. The LaCie Enterprise Class range features products with capacities between 1TB and 8TB, all available through the LaCie online store, as well as LaCie Reseller+ and LaCie Storage Partner. The starting prices are of $299 for the LaCie d2 Quadra Enterprise Class, of $649 for the LaCie 2big Quadra Enterprise Class and of $1349 for the LaCie 4big Quadra Enterprise Class (without VAT). The products will be bundled with 24K gold-plated cable contacts for an improved transfer speed and will be backed by a five-year warranty with five-year product swap.
