Major carrier Verizon is about to add a new 4G LTE smartphone to its portfolio, the Samsung Jasper. The name of the phone surfaced a few weeks ago, along with some of its specs.

However, the folks over at EVLeaks got their hands on press shots of the upcoming Samsung Jasper. Although this is considered a mid-range smartphone, the Jasper comes with pretty powerful features.

Hopefully, the phone’s price will make it appealing to more Android users. For the time being, there are no details on Samsung Jasper’s exact launch date, but given the fact that the first press photos are already leaked online, we expect it to be announced pretty soon.

When it comes to software, Samsung Jasper offers one of the latest versions of Google’s Android platform. Even though it does not come with Jelly Bean, at least users will be able to take advantage of the whole Ice Cream Sandwich experience.

If that doesn’t convince you, then you should know that Samsung Jasper is said to be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 chipset, which embeds a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz.

Word is that the phone’s WVGA capacitive touchscreen display supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution, but we don’t have any details yet on the size of the screen.

It is also worth mentioning that Samsung Jasper packs a rear photo snapper and a secondary front-facing camera for video calls, though we have yet to learn the amount of megapixels.

There’s more to it, as the Jasper comes with a dedicated multitasking key, which replaces the standard Search button specific to most Android smartphones. This is the first Samsung device to feature such a key.

That’s about everything we know about Samsung Jasper for the moment, but more details might be available as we near the smartphones’ launch date. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
