Good news for Android enthusiasts in Australia looking for an affordable LTE smartphone, as Telstra has just introduced the LG Optimus F3.

As Ausdroid points out, the mid-range handset can now be purchased for only $250 (€170) on pre-paid on the Telstra network.

“We’re excited to add the LG Optimus F3 into our pre-paid 4G smartphone line-up. It is an affordable handset that is packed with great features making it the perfect device for customers who want to experience the benefits of superfast 4G on a budget.

It is an ideal handset to give as a gift and being pre-paid customers can choose what they spend and select from a range of great pre-paid offers including the Telstra Pre-Paid Cap Encore, which offers free talk & text 6pm-6am to standard Australian numbers,” said Andrew Volard, Telstra Director Devices.

The Optimus F3 ships with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and packs a decent enough 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor.

It comes equipped with an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit, the same included within the Galaxy S4 mini hardware configuration, as well as 1GB of RAM.

The smartphone only features 4GB of internal memory, but users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

LG Optimus F3 sports a 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating.

Last but not least, it offers LTE support and packs dual-cameras (5-megapixel main photo snapepr and secondary VGA camera for video calls).

“With the creation of the F-Series, LG is realising its goal of giving consumers access to high-speed 4G enabled devices at affordable pricing. We are focussed on achieving this without sacrificing usability or holding back on the latest features we recently introduced into our top of the line flagship handsets only a few months ago.

Price, however, is just one of the many attractions of this device and we have worked extremely hard to pack in our latest user friendly software features to optimise the usability of the handset,” concluded Lambro Skropidis, General Manager Marketing for LG Electronics Australia.
