LG's Scarlet line of LCD HDTVs has brought some interesting innovations to the market, whether we're talking about their very sleek design, their unique power switch or the quality of the images they produce. However, it would seem that the Korean company has chosen a different approach for its latest Scarlet model, the LG80, which features a seriously improved audio system, which renders an audio home cinema one pretty much useless (especially if you're not exactly an audiophile).

Hence, the LG80 comes packed with a 3.1-channel virtual surround sound system, which has been fully integrated into the HDTV itself, helping it achieve a 50-watt output, compared to just 20 watts in the case of most other TVs available on the market. The sound system is formed of a total of four pieces, including right and left channel speakers that actually slide out of the TV whenever it's switched on, a center one (dedicated to sound in the human voice range) and a woofer, located on the back of the TV.

Furthermore, the Scarlet HDTV has also been equipped with LG’s Clear Voice technology, which eliminates problems with hearing human voices over background noise in movies mixed for 5.1 channel surround sound.

Besides its enhanced audio features, the LG80 also supports 1080p full HD, a 30,000:1 contrast ratio, as well as three AV modes that optimize the TV’s picture for movies, video games or sports with a single click of a remote control. The device also delivers a full-range of connectivity options, including here HDMI 1.3 interfaces, plus a USB 2.0 connection, which allows users to hook up to the TV several external accessories, such as flash drive, memory card reader or MP3 player.

The Korean company has not provided any pricing information for the time being, but it does inform us that the LG80 will most likely be available worldwide starting with October. However, for some strange reason, the model WON'T be arriving in Europe or North America anytime soon. Either LG is preparing a modified version for these two markets, or....it simply believes that the economic crisis has diminished the Europeans and Americans' purchasing power.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
