Some of the latest reports on the South Korean mobile phone maker LG electronics have all converged towards the fact that it will bring to the market a new, high-end Android smartphone that will pack an HD touchscreen display, and the company has confirmed that, officially.

Make no mistake, they did not announce the new mobile phone, but they did say that Street Fighter IV for Android will be available exclusively on an upcoming HD Android smartphone, which leaves little room for supposition.

LG has managed to score an agreement with CAPCOM, Japan’s legendary game developer, and will have the Street Fighter IV title loaded on the said device exclusively for three months after its launch.

The handset is expected to become available sometime in the fourth quarter of the ongoing year, along with the said device, at least this is what the press release announcing the said partnership points at.

In their official announcement, LG stated that Street Fighter IV is set to debut on Android on LG's website starting with the fourth quarter, which means that the phone will be official, and, maybe, even available, at the same time.

But there's more to it. Commenting on the upcoming release, LG Mobile's CEO also confirmed that the mobile phone will arrive on shelves with a display capable of delivering an HD resolution.

“We are honored to be able to bring one of the most popular fighting games of all time into the Android ecosystem,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

“As we prepare our first HD smartphone for launch, it was important for us to be able to offer HD content that would really demonstrate this phone’s benefits.

“The HD version of Street Fighter certainly fills this objective. We are also confident that LG’s soon-to-be-unveiled HD display technology will give Street Fighter fans a whole new reason to play the game again.”

Street Fighter was launched in 1987, and has already managed to become one of the most popular action game in the world.

“We very much look forward to expanding the legacy of Street Fighter to the Android platform through this partnership with LG,” said Yoshinori Ishida, deputy head of Consumer Games Business Division and general manager of Consumer Games Marketing Department at CAPCOM.

“We wanted to ensure the Street Fighter concept transitioned seamlessly to Android,” Yoshinori Ishida continued.
