LG eXpo, the projector phone launched at the end of last year on AT&T's network, is reportedly experiencing some manufacturing problems that sent it out of stock on the carrier's lineup. It seems that LG is experiencing some issues with the smartphone's antenna, which slowed down the production, yet LG and AT&T say that the handset is actually out of stock due to the high demand it sees from users.

The handset is indeed one of the nicest devices launched on the market during the last year. It comes with a powerful 1GHz Qualcomm processor on board, a large touchscreen display, a programmable finger sensor, and the integrated pico projector, which makes it even more appealing. The device is powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, and comes in a sleek form factor, with a side sliding QWERTY keyboard.

According to a recent article on Forbes, Art Stewart, vice president of wireless products at sensor maker AuthenTec, the company that delivered fingerprint sensors for the LG eXpo, said that there were some 'antenna issues' with the device. At the same time, the news site notes that an LG spokeswoman commented the following: “We are working with all our partners to address this issue and expect to have product available soon.”

For the time being, it seems that no one knows exactly when the LG eXpo smartphone might return to the shelves. AT&T says that they do not know when that might happen, while LG hasn't commented on possible production complications with the handset. Hopefully, the mobile phone maker will manage to bring eXpo back on the market in the near future, especially since it can deliver a great deal of features to users, as well as an enhanced experience.

As most of you might already know, this is the second smartphone LG launched on the US market, following the release of Windows Mobile-based Incite on AT&T's airwaves about a year ago. The handset vendor is working on delivering compelling devices on the market so as to better compete against rivals like Nokia, Samsung or Motorola, and is expected to soon launch mobile phones powered by Microsoft's newly introduced Windows Phone 7 OS.
