They won't be dragging each other into courts anymore, at least for now

Samsung and LG have been duking it out in court for about a year now, ever since they accused each other of stealing the other's OLED technology. Samsung was the first to say so, but LG counter-sued days later.

Fast-forward 12 months and the companies have already met in court more than once, and kept themselves just within the bounds of civility when talking to the press about it.

In the end, their war was just another one of those wretched patent disputes that tend to kill the best products on specific market segments. Not to mention that they sour the public to whatever is being fought over, and the ones doing it. Not that this ever seems to affect sales much, but still.

At least Samsung and LG won't fight over OLED and PLS anymore, though not for lack of trying. The South Korean ministry had to intervene to resolve their matter, until the two finally consented to focus on “competitiveness globally” by “cooperation, instead of engaging in all-consuming patent disputes.”
