Looks like OLED panels are far enough along in their development that at least one company knows when it will begin the shipment and promotion efforts in earnest.

LG has announced that it has decided to begin mass production of OLED panels in July, 2012.

For those unaware, LG, like Samsung, had a 55-inch OLED TV up for show in Las Vegas, Nevada, during this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2012).

The production line dedicated to the making of such TVs, as well as other large-size OLED products, will be capable of 48,000 panels per month.

Still, just roughly 8,000 will be made at first, the number expected to grow progressively over time.

Based on how well the displays sell, LG will figure out how much money it will invest in the project. Q3 will bring a decision on how much funding the facilities will get for 2013.
