Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has just announced officially plans to bring to the market in the United States a new smartphone running under Google's Android operating system, namely the LG Vortex.

According to the company, the new device would become available for purchase as soon as November 18th is here, and should be put on sale via all Verizon Wireless Communications Stores, as well as online via the carrier's website.

The new device comes to the market with a wide range of features that would make first-time Android users enjoy the platform.

At the same time, the carrier notes that LG Vortex sports a sleek design, and that it offers support for a wide range of applications and services.

The specifications list of the new mobile phone includes a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, Wi-Fi Connectivity and 3G Mobile HotSpot capabilities, as well as a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

Some of the main features of the new mobile phone include:

- Support for Google Mobile Services, including Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Google Voice and access to Android Market - Preloaded with Bing Search and Bing Maps - Virtual QWERTY keyboard with Swype technology installed - Customizable home screens with shortcuts to text messages, e-mail, apps, favorite social networking sites and widgets - Pre-installed LG Apps, including My Status with Twitter for LG and Facebook for LG Visual Voice Mail capable - VZ Navigator capabilities – Access for customers to receive audible turn-by-turn directions to millions of points of interest and share the directions with others - Full suite of messaging options – Text, picture, video and voice messaging; corporate and personal e-mail accounts supported

The new LG Vortex also comes with Bluetooth 2.1, Proximity sensor, 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera and camcorder with flash, Skype mobile, and the possibility to customize a number of 5 or 7 home screens.

According to Verizon, the LG Vortex is expected to become available for purchase priced at $79.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate, upon the signing of a two year contract agreement with the wireless carrier.
