Currently tagged as AT&T's first prepay Android smartphone available on the market, the LG Thrive can now be purchased for $179.99

The standard version of the Thrive, the LG Phoenix is also available for purchase from AT&T for $49.99 with a new two-year agreement.

Spec-wise, LG Thrive and Phoenix are pretty much the same, and both are Optimus One variants.

However, the Thrive will allow GoPhone customers to access Internet data services along with prepaid calling minutes without the requirement of a long-term commitment.

AT&T is offering various data packages for the LG Thrive that are priced at $25 for 500 MB, with each additional 10MB costing $5. Also, potential customers can get a cheaper $15 per 100MB plan.

The above data packages include unlimited Wi-Fi usage through AT&T's Wi-Fi hotspots.

We are excited to add LG Thrive, the first smartphone for GoPhone, to AT&T’s growing Android portfolio,” said Judy Cavalieri, vice president, Voice and Prepaid Products, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.

Thrive brings more choice and more value to our GoPhone customers by delivering the benefits of a smartphone, balanced with functionality and affordability.”

Both, LG Thrive and Phoenix come with Android 2.2 Froyo on-board, as well as HSDPA 7.2 Mbps support.

They are powered by similar 600MHz application processors and feature a medium-size 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with 262k color support and 320 x 480 pixels resolution.

As mentioned above, the smartphones are Wi-Fi-enabled, as well as aGPS capable, thanks to the built-in GPS receiver.

Only 160 MB of user memory is available, but both devices have microSD card slots for memory expansion (up to 32GB) and 2GB memory cards included in the sales package.

Although it's only of average quality, the 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with auto-focus and camcorder allows users to capture favorite moments with their friends and families.
