The one-year-old LG Spectrum 2 is now being updated at Verizon with several bloatware-related tweaks and some security patches and improvements.

LG Spectrum 2 made its way onto shelves last October with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system onboard. The sequel to the mildly popular LG Spectrum, the smartphone sports a much larger 4.7-inch True HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display.

The device offers LTE support and comes equipped with a more than decent 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

The latest update mostly takes care of the bloatware pre-loaded since its launch on the market. Thus, Verizon has already published the official changelog for this update:

- Google GMS has been upgraded to R5 version; - Single Sign On (SSO) engine has been updated to 3.1.14; - My Verizon Mobile has been updated to v10.0.0440; - VZ Navigator has been updated to v9.0.123; - Real Racing 2 has been updated to v.000770; - Verizon Daily Scoop v5.0.8. has been added; - Google security patches have been performed; - Verizon Remote Diagnostics (VRD) has been removed; - Backup Assistant Plus contacts have been enhanced; - Data Usage Notification’ feature is now supported; - Volume can now be changed while using Visual Voice Mail; - Access and function Visual Voice Mail even when unsubscribed; - Use Visual Voice Mail without having to enter a PIN request; - Contact Backup no longer gets interrupted when making voice calls.

LG Lucid owners received a similar update a while ago, so we can expect all LG smartphones available at Verizon to get it the coming weeks.

Keep in mind that the software update is pushed OTA (over the air), so it might take a while to reach all LG Spectrum 2 devices.
