It has a very slim frame, blue light reduction mode and wide viewing angles

Thin bezels are the rave on the monitor market now, a trend brought about by the rising popularity of multi-monitor configurations. LG has just revealed a display that will fit just fine in such a setup.

Well, perhaps saying that LG has “revealed” the monitor is a bit of a stretch, because the product hasn't really been launched yet.

Instead, LG is only preparing for when it will unleash it later this month (January 2014). Also, even when the monitor does get released, it will only be up for order in Japan. At first anyway.

We're not altogether sure how long it will be until availability expands to other nations. Probably a few weeks, maybe a couple of months.

Anyway, the name of the newcomer, or rather the model number, is 24MP76HM-S, which isn't perfectly indicative of its size, since it's a 23.8-inch unit.

The display is part of the Cinema Screen series, which explains the use of the AH-IPS panel. Wide viewing angles are a must for video watching after all.

Speaking of which, the angles are of 178 degrees, both horizontally and vertically, and the native resolution is, as one could easily guess, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Moving on, the contrast ratio is of 1,000:1 (probably dynamic mega contrast of a few million:1, since all monitors seem to have it these days) and the response time is of 5 ms (GTG). Kind of decent for IPS technology actually.

Other specs include a pair of integrated 5W speakers, two HDMI connectors, and one D-Sub input. Finally, the bezel (the frame as it were) of the monitor measures 5.6 mm / 0.22 inches, and the blue light reduction mode will reduce eye strain.

Unfortunately, since the LG Cinema Screen 24MP76HM-S will only be made available later this month, we don't know what the price will be, just yet.
