A new Android-powered mobile is on its way to wireless carrier T-Mobile in the United States, namely the LG Optimus T, which was officially announced on Wednesday.

The new smartphone runs under the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system and sports a responsive touch screen in a sleek form factor, while boasting tight integration with various Google services, including Voice Actions.

The new LG Optimus T was meant to offer users the possibility to easily stay connected with their friends and family while on the go, via various features it packs inside.

Voice Actions for Android enables the phone's owner to control the device through speaking commands like call, text or e-mail.

On top of that, the new LG Optimus T comes with support for various Google services, including Google Search (also by voice), Gmail, Google Talk and Google Maps.

“This holiday season, Android smartphones will be at the top of the wish list for multiple members of the family,” said Saj Sahay, director, product management, T-Mobile USA.

“With the LG Optimus T, T-Mobile is helping customers who have not yet made the transition to the world of smartphones with an easy-to-use and affordable option.”

LG Optimus T offers access to the Android Market, from where users can download a wide range of applications to personalize their devices.

Other features of the new device include a customizable home screen, with up to seven panes, on which one can place favorite applications and widgets for fast access.

The specs list of the new device include a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and video recording capabilities, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space (a 2GB card included in the package).

The Optimus T comes equipped with a 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera with video capture, as well as pre-installed 2 GB microSD card and support for up to 32 GB of removable memory.

“LG Optimus T allows T-Mobile users to create a smartphone experience unique to their lifestyle and everyday needs,” said Ehtisham Rabbani, corporate vice president of marketing and innovation for LG Mobile Phones.

“With Google features and a stylish design, LG Optimus T is the ideal device for first-time smartphone users ready to explore the Android world.”

LG Optimus T should arrive at T-Mobile in a Burgundy or Titanium finish, in time for the holiday season. No info on its price tag was unveiled, but it should be an affordable Android device when made available.
