LG Optimus Sol was showcased for the first time at IFA 2011, back in September 2011. However, it took LG approximately four months to bring the smartphone in India.

The folks at AndroidOS have just highlighted that the Optimus Sol is now available for purchase at Flipkart for only Rs 16,990 (345 USD or 260 EUR) outright. Other major retailers in the country may have the LG Optimus Sol for sale at lower prices.

LG Optimus Sol is a mid-end smartphone, no so popular among Android enthusiast. The device is powered by Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system and may be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich in the future.

Unfortunately, LG did not confirm any major upgrades for the Optimus Sol, which might indicate that a possible Android 4.0 upgrade for this model is still being reviewed, or the handset maker doesn’t take it into consideration yet.

In the hardware front, the Optimus Sol doesn’t come with anything impressive. The smartphone is equipped with a 1 GHz single core Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor and an Adreno 205 graphics processing unit.

There’s only 512MB RAM inside, as well as 1GB of internal memory and 2GB of ROM. The storage can be expanded via microSD card slot for up to 32GB. It is also worth mentioning that the Optimus Sol is delivered with a 2GB memory card inside.

One of the strong points of the Optimus Sol is the 3.8-inch Ultra AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 262k colors.

On the back, the phone features a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus and HD (720p) video recording, while in the front there’s a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

The phone is powered by a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery, which should provide up to 100 hours of standby time or up to 4 hours of talk time.
