Before announcing any Ice Cream Sandwich device, LG is taking care of the LTE aspect of its products and introduces the first tablet to support this fast data speed technology, the Optimus Pad LTE.

Aside from the LTE technology, the new slate comes with a different display of True HD IPS quality that supports 768 x 1280 pixels resolution. It appears that the Korean handset maker dropped any 3D functions for this tablet.

The dual 5-megapixel rear cameras of the standard Optimus Pad were replaced with an impressive 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording.

According to LG, the Optimus Pad LTE is the first tablet to support an SD memory card expandable to 32GB. There’s also 32GB of internal memory and 1GB of RAM.

Just like its predecessor, the standard Optimus Pad tablet, the LTE version is extremely portable and pretty appealing at first glance, weighing in at 479g (battery included) and only 9.34mm thin.

The tablet is equipped with a superior 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and runs Google’s Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system

It is delivered with several interesting apps and services, such as Smart Movie Editor for editing pictures and videos, Web Duet for e-mailing, messaging and SNS sharing with search functions, as well as On-Screen Phone (OSP) which provides compatibility with other LG smartphones.

Although the Optimus Pad LTE will be initially launched in South Korea, LG confirmed that the slate would be introduced in other countries as well.

With tablets generating five times more traffic than the average smartphone, it's not a huge jump to assume that tablet users need and want faster connectivity. The combination of LG's LTE technology with the tablet form factor is a clear advantage for consumers who use a tablet as their primary consumption device when on the move,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company.
