Although Koodo Mobile has already added the LG Optimus One to its portfolio a long time ago, it appears that the carrier wants to refresh one of its best selling Android devices by launching the Optimus One “Skype Edition.”

According to the guys over at MobileSyrup, LG Optimus One “Skype Edition” should be available at Koodo Mobile for $175 (128 EUR) without having to sign for a contract.

Koodo Mobile currently offers a range of Android smartphones, including the INQ Cloud Touch, Samsung Galaxy Ace, LG Optimus One and Optimus Chat.

It's still unclear if the original Optimus One will be replaced by the upcoming “Skype Edition,” or if they will be offered at the same time.

No word on the phone's release date, but it shouldn't take too long until it will go live, as the smartphone already appears in a Koodo Mobile internal document.

LG Optimus One “Skype Edition” smartphone has the same hardware configurations as the original model, but comes pre-loaded with Skype.

With Skype, users will be able to purchase and bill credits directly from their wireless account, whereas the original Optimus One does not offer this capability.

Those unfamiliar with the phone's specs sheet may want to know that Optimus One is powered by Android 2.2 Froyo, which is upgradable to Gingerbread.

In addition, the handset is equipped with a low-performance 600 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor, complemented by an Adreno 200 graphics processing unit.

It also packs a 3-megapixel camera with autofocus and camcorder, as well as 170 MB of internal memory, 512 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

On related news, a similar “Skype Edition” smartphone was recently launched by TELUS, the LG Optimus Black, which is available for purchase for $400 (292 EUR) outright or $30 (22 EUR) with a new three-year agreement.
