LG announced its new L-Style lineup of phones back in February, ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2012 trade fair. The new series comprises entry-level and top-tier smartphones alike, all powered by Google’s Android platform.

The Optimus L3 is among the cheapest devices in the L-Style lineup. The smartphone was unveiled one day ahead of MWC 2012 opening and slated for a March release in Europe.

Unfortunately, the handset was quietly postponed in the UK for April. Although we don’t have any details regarding the Optimus L3 exact release date, SoMobile reports that the phone is now up for pre-order at Dialaphone retailer.

No word on when the phone will arrive in stock, but potential customers can grab the Optimus L3 for free £10.50 a month.

Those who want to avoid being tied by a long-term contract can purchase the smartphone on PAYG (pay as you go) from Vodafone, Orange or O2, for just £79.89.

As expected, LG Optimus L3 runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, but it might receive an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in the distant future, though LG has yet to confirm it.

It comes with a medium-size 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 240 x 320 pixels resolution and 262k colors.

On the inside, the Optimus L3 is equipped with a single core processor clocked at 800 MHz, 384 MB of RAM, 1 GB onboard memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

On the connectivity front, the smartphone offers Wi-Fi, HSDPA (3.6Mbps) and NFC (Near Field Communications) support, along with Bluetooth 2.1, microUSB and built-in GPS.

There’s also a 3-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus and video recording. LG Optimus L3 lacks a secondary camera for video calls. The phone’s 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.
