As expected, US-based carrier Virgin Mobile has just introduced the LG Optimus Elite on its airwaves. Customers who already pre-ordered the smartphone this weekend should expect their devices within the next few days.

Those who wish to purchase the Optimus Elite can do so for only 149.99 USD (115 EUR). The device is available in Titan Silver for the moment and can be paired with Virgin Mobile’s no-contract Beyond Talk plans that offer unlimited data and messaging starting at $35 a month.

Just like Sprint’s variant, Virgin Mobile Optimus Elite comes with Google Wallet pre-installed and is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

Hardware-wise, the Optimus Elite is far from being impressive, as the device is equipped with a low-performance 800 MHz single-core processor and packs 512MB of RAM.

Furthermore, the smartphone embeds 1GB of internal memory, 4GB of ROM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), and 50GB of free cloud storage via Box app.

LG Optimus elite is the spiritual successor of the popular LG Optimus V and features a decent 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution.

There’s also a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus and LED flash, but no secondary camera for video calls.

It is also worth mentioning that the Optimus Elite is Virgin Mobile USA’s first device to come with Near Field Communications (NFC) capability. Check it out here.

Our customers fell in love with the LG Optimus V, so bringing another great device to our lineup of Android-powered devices from the Optimus family goes right along with our promise of A Higher Calling. LG Optimus Elite offers full integration of social networking apps, Microsoft Outlook Exchange email, and advanced messaging capabilities. Combined with our awesome Beyond Talk monthly unlimited data plans, customers can realize true savings with no contract and no surprises,” said Jeff Auman, vice president for Virgin Mobile USA.
