LG promised it would expand its LTE smartphone market to 10 more countries by the end of the year. In addition, the South Korean company plans to take on emerging markets with its high-end devices, even though these lack LTE support.

In this regard, the handset maker is expected to introduce the LG Optimus 4X HD today. This is one of the most powerful Android smartphones launched by LG.

The device is equipped with a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, which is complemented by an ULP GeForce graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

More importantly, the smartphone is powered by Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, so no worries for those who want one of the newest mobile operating systems on their devices.

LG has yet to unveil the phone’s suggested retail price, but rumor has that the company will price the Optimus 4X HD for around Rs 35,000 (630 USD or 515 EUR). The amount may seem a bit too steep for an emerging market due to the fact that LG has a stiff competition in India.

Anyway, the Optimus 4X HD sports a stunning 4.7-inch True HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 720 x 1280 pixels resolution, and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating for extra-protection against scratches and scrapes.

There’s also 16GB (12GB user available) of internal memory inside, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

Last but not least, LG Optimus 4X HD packs an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

The phone’s high-capacity 2150 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide users with up to 730 hours of standby time (685 hours in 3G mode) or up to 9 hours of talk time (11 hours in 3G mode).
