LG Electronics officially announced today, during a live conference, the launch of LG Optimus One and LG Optimus Chic, which are the first smartphones of the company’s Optimus series. Both devices are powered by Android 2.2 (Froyo) and include a wide range of Google Mobile Services.

LG Optimus One and Chic are the first handsets which are targeting first time smartphone users, and consumers that are buying their first smartphone.

They're also among the first to come with Android 2.2 platform out-of-the-box, which allows for two to three times faster and smoother internet browsing, web-page loading, application pop-ups and multi-tasking.

The highlights of both devices include the popular Google Mobile Services, such as: Google Voice Search, Google Voice Actions, Google Goggles, Google Shopper and Google Maps with navigation.

“LG is offering the gateway into the smartphone world with the LG Optimus One and the LG Optimus Chic that offer the distinctive benefits of smartphones, in intuitive, approachable packages,” said Skott Ahn, CEO and president of LG Mobile Communications Company.

LG Optimus One comes with a 3.2-inch wide HVGA (320 x 480 pixels resolution) capacitive touch screen, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, 600 MHz CPU, 3.0 megapixel camera with autofocus, 170 MB internal memory, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB card included), and 1500mAh capacity battery.

LG Optimus Chic targets trendsetters, that are also using a smartphone for the first time. The device has a stylish, sleek and minimalistic look, with touch-sensitive buttons.

It has almost the same features as the Optimus One, except that it feature a 5.0-megapixel camera, 150MB internal memory and 1250 mAh capacity battery.

LG Optimus Chic also offers a unique on-screen phone feature which allows users to remotely control the device from their PCs.

LG Optimus One will be available in over 90 countries via 120 partners starting this October.

LG Optimus Chic will be available in Europe starting in November with other markets in Asia-Pacific to follow soon after.
