The next high-end smartphone coming for LG, the Optimus G has just been confirmed by the South Korean mobile phone manufacturer.

Details on the upcoming device leaked earlier last week, but LG was mum on alleged Optimus G until recently.

Rumored to come packed with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro all-in-one chipset solution, the next major smartphone from LG is expected to be announced this week at IFA 2012 trade fair, which is set to kick off on August 31.

Qualcomm came forward a few days ago with a short statement confirming the Optimus G will indeed be powered by its Snapdragon S4 Pro processor.

Moreover, LG issues an official press release stating that a new high-end quad-core LTE smartphone is in the works.

The device is currently developed by LG Electronics and its sister companies LG Chem, LG Display and LG Innotek, which will integrate the company’s best technology and innovations onto the upcoming smartphone.

The South Korean company also confirms this would be the first quad-core LTE smartphone to take advantage of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor, accompanied by an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit.

According to LG, the Optimus G will not only offer superior performance but also longer battery life, sleek forma factor, brighter display, as well as a new touchscreen panel technology.

It appears that the battery includes LG Chem’s high-density technology, which provides more power than other similarly-sized batteries by running 60% more efficiently. This is the first battery for a mobile phone that has a lifespan of 800 cycles.

LG Display provides the phone with a True HD IPS+ capacitive touchscreen, which is said to be sharper than most AMOLED displays due to its high pixel density of 320ppi. The display is capable of generating 470 nits of brightness, though it consumes 70% less power when displaying a white background.

Our next smartphone will be a game changer for us because we were able to incorporated all the best-of-best technologies from our sister companies with one single objective in mind -– to give customers the best user experience that we were collectively capable of,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
