14 DAY TRIAL // Rumor has it that Google plans to launch not one, but two Nexus smartphones this year and they will be manufactured by two brands: Huawei and LG.
A Motorola Nexus smartphone that leaked not long ago might be kept as backup in case one of the two companies that Google opted for won't deliver.
Today, a new report coming from the South Korean media claims an LG Nexus smartphone will be launched this fall and it will feature 3D technology.
The report spotted by G for Games isn't clear enough on this 3D technology, but it does say that the smartphone will pack two camera modules and an infrared sensor.
The unannounced smartphone will also include 3D-based graphics and an easy-to-use UI. The source also claims that LG's Nexus handset will be tagged as a “premium” device, so we expect some features that would justify a high price.
Is there a market for a 3D smartphone?
The Korean media also suggests that the LG Nexus premium smartphone will be launched sometime in October and it will be powered by Android M operating system right out of the box.
It sounds like Google plans to launch a smartphone similar in many ways with Amazon's Fire Phone. However, the LG phone will pack just two cameras instead of four included in the Fire Phone.
While LG surely has the expertise to launch a 3D phone, it's unclear how that technology will be implemented into the Nexus phone.
If the information leaked today proves to be accurate, then it will be interesting to see whether there's a market for this type of device and how large it is.
