Indian site Zauba lists an unidentified LG Nexus tablet

Before Google’s I/O keynote, a lot of us were expecting that the highly anticipated Nexus 8 (some voices called it the Nexus 9) would make an appearance at the event.

The consensus was that HTC and Google had partnered up to produce an 8.9-inch tablet that was to take advantage of an NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor. But as we all know, Google’s I/O came and went but no tablet showed up.

Immediately after the event, word surfaced that the tablet was still coming and sources familiar with the matter said the device wasn't actually meant to be unveiled at the event after all. HTC was still believed to be the manufacturer behind the tablet. But it turns out, we might have been misled.

The tablet was spotted in the Indian export/import data base Zauba, but the listing didn't reveal much information about it. However, the guys at TechTastic played detective a little bit and managed to uncover a listing on the same site, dating back on June 4, which shows us that a Nexus tablet is currently in development at LG.

The listing doesn't mention the screen size of the device, so are we looking at the Nexus 8 or at the mythical and almost forgotten next-gen Nexus 10?

Since the Nexus 8 is expected to make an appearance on the market soon, it might make sense to argue this is Google’s 8.9-incher, but the rumors putting HTC behind this endeavor were quite strong, so we tend to believe this is not the case.

On the other hand, the next Nexus 10 has been rumored for ages and was expected to make an appearance on Christmas 2013, New Year’s, CES 2014, MWC 2014 and so on. Eventually, the rumor mill gave up on it and proclaimed Google isn't probably looking to make a next Nexus 10 anymore.

The Nexus in the listing appears to arrive with 32GB of storage, but other than that, we’re not given any more clues or hints.

It’s also strange how at one point ASUS was rumored to go ahead and release a Nexus 8 of its own, even without Google’s blessing. Then word on the street had it that ASUS would continue the Nexus 7 legacy and would push out a third-gen tablet, as well.

Things seem to be awfully tangled in the Nexus tablet garden. However, news that a next-gen Nexus 10 might still make it on the market, after all, might make a lot of people happy. What do you think?
