It's been less than 2 days since Nexus 5 went on sale in India via Google Play Store and now LG has just announced it will offer the smartphone through its own distribution channels as well.

Although we did expect LG to officially introduce the smartphone in India via major retailers across the country, we did not expect it to be priced so cheap.

If we take into consideration the fact that Telstra will be selling the Nexus 5 in Australia for no less than $700 (€485) outright, customers in India should be thankful that the smartphone will only cost Rs 29,999 ($475/€355).

That's only Rs 1,000 ($16/€12) more than the price on Google Play Store, which, according to AndroidOS, “is because of the distribution costs, store management and other expenses that come with selling phones in brick and mortar shops.”

The Nexus 5 16GB will soon be available at all authorized resellers in India, including Flipkart, Infibeam and Saholic for only Rs 29,999 ($475/€355), while the 32GB model will cost Rs 33,999 ($540/€400) off contract.

“LG is proud to partner with Google again to develop the fastest, most powerful Nexus phone ever. Nexus 5 offers the ultimate functionality in a modern design and is a testament to the level of innovation that can be generated when two great companies come together for a second act,” said Soon Kwon, MD LG India.

The good news is Nexus 5 is still available for purchase via Google Play India, so those who don't want to pay extra can order the device online right now.

However, in case it goes out of stock, there's always the option to grab one from various retailers across the country as soon as Nexus 5 arrives in stock. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
