Feature-packed, yet quite expensive

Although it's a relative newcomer to the GPS navigation systems' market, LG has launched up until now quite a few interesting models, each one providing advanced navigation and multimedia features, as well as lots of other goodies. And in order to complete its LN700 series, the company has announced the imminent launch of the high-end LN790 model, a device that provides a set of complete features, both in the navigation and the multimedia department.

The first element that draws the attention to the LN790 is its wide, 4.3-inch touchscreen display, which has a high level of brightness (450cd/m2), and is also sunlight readable. Moreover, since the display has quite a large size, it can be very easily used for viewing video clips and photos, especially since the LN790 supports this feature as well.

As most GPS navigation systems currently available on the market, the LN790 incorporates a SiRF Star III GPS chipset, which allows the device to rapidly and accurately identify its position and display it on the map. And speaking of maps, it's worth mentioning the fact that the unit comes with pre-loaded maps of the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada as well as millions of POIs, quite enough navigation information to allow the users to find their way wherever they might be in the US. Said maps are included on the SD card, which can also be used for storing multimedia content.

The device from LG also supplies other relevant information, as for example relevant traffic-related data via the built-in RDS-TMC antenna. Moreover, as most other high-end PNDs, the device also provides Bluetooth connectivity (headset plus data transfer profiles), as well as the possibility of using it as a music player.

The LN790 will be available across the US in September, and will retail for around 700 US dollars, which is quite a normal price for such a high-end GPS navigation system.
