While Computex 2011 is still a way off, the worldwide IT industry is getting warmed up, so to speak, at the SID Display Week, where the likes of LG have been really bringing out what can be seen as the big guns.

The past week has definitely been on of many product releases, particularly in the field of display solutions.

This is because there is a certain event going on in Los Angeles, namely the SID Display Week, where, among others, LG has gone.

What the company did was show off a veritably myriad of display solutions, in this case AH-IPS panels of 3.5 to 84 inches in diagonal.

For those that don't know, AH-IPS stands for Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching and, coupled with the high resolutions (quality of 329ppi, 52ppi etc.) depending on size, definitely puts the new panels in the high-tier category.

Unfortunately, while a great number of them were put on walls for everyone to behold, not much was said in terms of actual performance specifications.

Either way, the folks over at Engadget were there long enough to snatch quite a few group and individual pictures.

All in all, one can assume that, whenever these happen to get ready for shipment (or, more precisely, to be used in everything from portable electronics to large TVs), they will put up quite the fight.

In the meantime, users can stretch their brains thinking about all other display solutions unveiled over the past few days, like a certain Sharp beast.

For those that don't know, Sharp probably topped everyone in the world by making an 85-inch screen with a super high resolution of 7,680 x 4,320 pixels, basically 16 times greater than Full HD.

Computex 2011 is coming in fast, meaning that attention will again shift towards PCs and computer hardware, but there is no question that display technologies are taking a leap of their own.
