There is little doubt that end-users interested in current hardware affairs are already well acquainted with the advantages of LED backlighting. As this technology inherently improves the quality of any display, through a reduced power consumption and overall better image quality, display makers will, naturally, leverage the reputation of LEDs in order to promote their products. One such company is LG, which recently showcased three new LCD monitors from the EX Series.

The three newcomers to the EX line of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) are the 20-inch EX205, the 21.5-inch EX225 and the 23-inch EX235. The use of light-emitting diodes (LED) enables a power consumption that is 40% lower than that of competing products. Still, LEDs are not the only assets that these monitors have. The three displays have a dynamic contrast ratio of up to 1,500,000:1 and a response time of only 5ms.

Nevertheless, the more noteworthy element of the three displays' design is not their wine-colored, glossy casing, nor is it their crisp image quality or power efficiency. The special quality of the three monitors is their super-slim design. They all use a very thin form factor, with their thickness being of only 17.5mm. No doubt, they will appeal to end-users interested in a striking combination of style and space efficiency.

Unfortunately, as it often occurs with any manufacturer and vendor of PCs and PC-related products, LG won't be immediately offering the three monitors on a worldwide scale. In fact, the EX205, EX225 and EX235 have only been launched din South Korea and, currently, there are no known plans for them to be made available in other regions, although a wider availability is not excluded.

Already available on the South Korean market, the LG 20-inch, 21.5-inch and 23-inch EX205, EX225 and EX235 have prices of roughly $267, $301 and $362, respectively.
