Shortly after revealing the G Pro 2 high-end smartphone, LG announced the upcoming availability of three new low- to mid-range handsets that will be showcased later this month at Mobile World Congress ((MWC) 2014.

The LG L40, L70 and L90 are part of the L Series III of smartphones and will be powered by Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box. Furthermore, some of the smartphones may be available in different hardware configurations, depending on the market.

“In addition to inheriting the refined design aesthetic that is synonymous with LG’s premium devices, the L Series III provides an array of user benefits that extend far beyond a simple upgrade.”

“From the design to the OS to the UX, the L SeriesIII exemplifies LG’s commitment to bringing the best smartphone experience to as many consumers as possible. We’re confident that the L SeriesIII will be a strong volume driver in 3G markets,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

Unfortunately, no details on availability and price tag have been offered yet, though we expect more info to be disclosed by the end of the month.

Specs-wise, the LG L90 is the better-featured of the three. It comes equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

The smartphone also sports a 4.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution, as well as dual-cameras (8-megapixel main photo snapper and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera).

The L90 is powered by a removable 2540 mAh battery and offers the standard connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HSPA+ (21Mbps), GPS with A-GPS and USB.

Next in line is LG L70, which packs a lower 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a slightly smaller 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 800 x 480 pixels resolution.

The smartphone also features 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB). The L70 is powered by a 2100 mAh removable battery.

It also comes with either an 8-megapixel or 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, depending on the market, as well as VGA front-facing camera.

Last but not least, LG L40 is the lowest of the three when it comes to specs. The phone is equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Furthermore, the L40 sports a small 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 320 pixels resolution, as well as a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera.

The smartphone lacks a secondary camera, but it comes packed with either a 1700 mAh or 1540 mAh battery, depending on the market.
