Today, South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has officially announced the upcoming availability of the LG L90, the new model in the popular L Series III family.

The new handset was designed to provide users with a great balance of performance, personality, and price, and it is set to become available for purchase starting with this week.

LG has announced the device as a premier model of its latest L Series lineup, while unveiling that it has packed it with a simple yet stylish aesthetic, in line with the previous handsets in the family. It also comes with updated UX features, the company revealed.

The new smartphone arrives on the market with a 4.7-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) IPS touchscreen display, as well as with a high-capacity 2540mAh battery inside, capable of offering long usage times.

LG L90 is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon MSM8226 processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It sports 8GB of internal memory, as well as a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, offering support for up to 32GB of external storage.

On the back, the new device features an 8-megapixel camera (a model packing only a 5MP sensor will also be launched in some markets). Users interested in enjoying video calling on the handset will be able to do so courtesy of a 1.3MP front camera.

LG has announced the new smartphone with the usual set of connectivity capabilities and sensors packed inside, as well as with the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system loaded on top. LG L90 measures 131.5 x 66.0 x 9.7mm.

“With its competitive specs and exquisite design, we expect the L90 to continue the success of the L Series in the global marketplace,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

“It offers the very best of LG in design, hardware, OS and UX features so 3G smartphone users worldwide will be able to enjoy a truly first-class smartphone experience.”

LG also unveiled that the new L90 is the first handset in the L Series III lineup to land on shelves with support for Knock Code, which is LG’s newest consumer-centric feature, allowing users to unlock their devices much easier than before.

This functionality was launched as the next step in the evolution of the popular KnockON feature that was launched last year on the LG G2 flagship handset.

“Knock Code allows owners to turn on and unlock their L90 in one easy step by tapping their screens using one of over 86,000 ‘knock’ combinations,” LG announced. The best part of the deal is that users can enter the knock pattern on any area of the screen, even with the display turned off.

The new LG L90 is set to become available this week in the CIS region, but it will see worldwide availability, the South Korean vendor has announced. The one thing that was not unveiled at the moment was the phone’s pricing.
