LG has just announced that its mid-range L70 Android smartphone will be available in Australia exclusively through major carrier Optus. The carrier has confirmed that all customers who order the smartphone will receive it in 3 to 5 business days.

According to AusDroid, LG L70 will be available for purchase at Optus for only $180 (€120) outright, which is a great price if we take into consideration its specs sheet. Keep in mind though that you will only be able to order one prepaid handset at a time.

First of all, LG L70 is one of the few smartphones in this price range to come with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box. The handset maker has also included its latest version of UI, along with some innovative features exclusively available on LG smartphones.

Those interested of what the LG L70 can do should know that the handset is packed with unique features like Knock Code and QSlide. The former is an evolution of the KnockOn feature that has been included in the G2 and G Flex high-end devices.

However, LG has promised that it will bring the new Knock Code feature to LG G2 and G Flex as well, via updates. The first one has already arrived in Canada where LG has kicked off the rollout of a small update for G2 that brings the Knock Code feature.

With the Knock Code, LG L70 users will be able to create their own security pattern for easy one-hand unlocking. They will be able to choose an unlock code pattern of between 2 and 8 taps. These patterns can be created in different locations of the screen.

As for the L70 specs sheet, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.

The mid-range handset sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) resolution, as well as Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating for extra protection.

The smartphone also comes with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera that features autofocus, LED flash and WVGA video recording. A secondary VGA front-facing camera is included as well.

“We are delighted to announce the arrival of both the L70 and KnockCode in Australia. Consumers’ needs are at the heart of all our product and software developments, and the marriage of the mid-tier handset and premium software, offers customers a unique, affordable and attractive package,” said Lambro Skropidis, general manager marketing at LG Electronics Australia.
