LG KC780, the second 8 Megapixel camera phone manufactured by the South Korean giant LG, is now official, coming as the world's slimmest slider to pack such a camera.

Measuring 107 x 52 x 13.9 millimeters and weighing 119 grams, LG KC780 is presented as "ideal for shooting portraits." That is thanks to its 8 Megapixel auto focus camera, which features, among other things: Face Detection, Smile Detection, Beauty Mode, SmartLight, Image Stabilizer, ISO 1600, Schneider-Kreuznach lens and a LED flash.

The rest of the specs packed by LG in the KC780 include: a 2.4 inch TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels and 262K colors, tri-band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, Music player, DivX video player, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, FM radio, Document viewer, email, 2 embedded games, 140MB of internal memory and microSD / microSDHC card support for up to 8GB.

LG KC780 also includes a 900 mAh battery said to last up to 6 hours in talk-time mode or up to 450 hours in stand-by mode.

Talking about the new handset, Dr. Skott Ahn, president and chief executive officer at LG Electronics Mobile Communications, said, "We found that most of the time people use the cameras on their mobile phones to take pictures of themselves, their families, friends and significant others. With this in mind, LG developed the LG-KC780 with a number of face-enhancing features to augment its high quality 8 megapixel camera."

Although it's not exactly a Viewty successor (the full-touch KC910 Renoir is), LG wants the new slider phone to reiterate the success of the V-phone. We'll see if this can happen starting next month (November), when the KC780 will hit Europe, for an undisclosed retail price. After Europe, LG KC780 will be shipped across Asia, in countries like India, China, Hong Kong and Thailand. North America seems to be out of the question for the moment.
