Alltel Wireless finally confirmed the release of LG Glimmer, after the phone was rumored, at the end of February, to hit the US market. LG Glimmer is now listed on Alltel's website as available for purchase and as of tomorrow, March 13, 2008, consumers will be able to buy it for $249.99 with a two-year service agreement, after a $100 mail-in-rebate.

Presented by Alltel as a "reflection of perfection", Glimmer is one of LG's latest slider phones and it combines multimedia capabilities and a touchscreen interface into a fashionable device.

Measuring 4.0 x 2.05 x 0.59 inches and weighing 4.0 ounces (101.6 x 52 x 14.9 millimeters and 113 grams), LG Glimmer is a dual-band CDMA EVDO/1XRTT device that packs enough features to become a successful product. The phone has a 2.8 inch touchscreen display with a 240 x 400 pixel resolution and 262k colors, a sliding numeric keypad, built-in GPS, a 2 Megapixel camera with flash and QVGA video recording, Music Player with equalizer and support for MP3, WMA, AAC and AAC+ formats, 3D Graphics support for gaming, USB 2.0, stereo Bluetooth with A2DP, Background Music Mode, 128 MB of internal memory and microSD card support for up to another 4GB. The handset's 800 mAh battery should provide a talk-time of up to 210 minutes and a stand-by time of up to 168 hours.

Talking about the new LG phone, Brian Ullem, vice president of device strategy for Alltel Wireless, said: "With touch-screen phones revolutionizing wireless, the LG Glimmer from Alltel has an innovative new touch interface while offering the convenience of a slide-out physical keypad. Its large display and multimedia capabilities allow our customers to access and manage their video and music with a simple touch."

LG Glimmer's selling package includes a touchscreen stylus, a 3.5 mm stereo adapter with microphone and a LCD protection film. Interested users can find the handset on Alltel's official website, at this address.
