South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics announced recently that its LG GD900 Crystal handset, which featured an innovative design with a transparent keypad, would soon become available in more than 40 countries all around the world, and we already learned that two of them would be Germany, where the device is expected to land as soon as this month, and the UK, where it is expected to become available starting July 1.

As many of you might already know, the LG GD900 is so special due to its transparent keypad, which gives it the Crystal moniker and which also comes with touch functionality. Mobile phone users in Germany will be able to enjoy the looks of the device starting mid-June, while those in the UK will have the opportunity to acquire it a few weeks later exclusively from Carphone Warehouse.

According to the phone maker, the device will also become available for users in more than 40 countries in Europe, Asia and America. Unfortunately, it seems that no exact details on the price tag of the handset have been unveiled until now, though the LG GD900 Crystal is expected to retail at a price of around €450, or $622.

As the handset is rated as a high-end phone, the transparent keyboard is not the only thing that should attract users, and we can also count here the 3-inch WVGA touchscreen display that boasts a 480 x 800 pixel resolution and support for 16M colors, and an 8-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and flash, as well as HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, accelerometer, TV out and 1.5GB of internal memory coupled with a microSD (TransFlash) memory card slot offering support for up to 16GB of additional storage space.

The specs of the handset also show LG's S-Class Touch UI, email and instant messaging capabilities, HTML browser and multimedia functionality. For the time being, LG hasn't specifically stated which countries will see the phone, but it should announce the exact availability of the phone in the near future. One thing that the company did say was that the LG GD900 Crystal would come in two color versions, chrome and titanium.
