South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is getting ready for the release of a new flavor of its LG G3 flagship smartphone, one that would actually be a mini variant of the handset, and which has already made an appearance online.

The phone has been spotted in China under the name of LG G3 Beat, but chances are that the handset vendor will launch it on other markets as well in the not-too-distant future.

One thing that should be mentioned right from the start, however, is the fact that this phone is not small at all, despite the fact that it might arrive on the market as LG G3 mini.

LG G3 Beat has been revealed in China with a 5-inch IPS touchscreen display capable of delivering an HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution, which indeed makes it smaller than the LG G3.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the flagship smartphones was launched in May with a 5.5-inch touchscreen display that boasts a Quad HD resolution, which makes it one of the most appealing high-end phones out there.

In China, the LG G3 Beat will be released on the network of wireless carrier China Telecom and will also provide users with support for 4G LTE networks, as photos available courtesy of pcpop reveal.

The upcoming smartphone sports model number D729 and should hit the market as a mid-range device, though still capable of delivering appealing performance capabilities.

Thus, the new device will become available with a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor inside, paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

Moreover, the LG G3 Beat has emerged with a 2540mAh battery inside, as well as with an 8-megapixel camera on the back, most probably capable of recording videos in full HD resolution.

As you’d expect from a 2014 smartphone, LG should load the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system on G3 Beat, seemingly complemented by the latest iteration of its own Optimus UI as well.

Most probably, the LG G3 Beat will feature these specs when made official on other markets as well, mylgphones notes. However, it remains to be seen whether it will sport the name of LG G3 mini or not.

For the time being, however, the only thing that is certain about the device is that it will hit the shelves in China shortly. Hopefully, the South Korean vendor will make it official for other markets as well, so keep an eye on this space for additional info on the matter.
