LG G3, the flagship Android-based smartphone that South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is set to make official on May 27, will arrive on shelves with a metallic back case, it seems.

The info comes from LG’s public relations branch in Germany, which has noted in the press release unveiling the QuickCircle cover for the device that it was meant to replace the metallic back case of the phone.

Moreover, the team has unveiled that the cover will arrive on shelves with support for wireless charging using the Qi-interface standards.

As Phone Arena notes, there’s no telling whether the “metallic case” mentioning actually refers to a back place made out of metal or to one that only sports a metallic finish.

The phone was said before to sport an aluminum body, and previous renders with it did show the aforementioned brushed finish, so chances are that this will pan out in the end.

One thing that is certain at the moment, however, is the fact that LG G3’s back cover will be removable, and images that prove that have already emerged online.

Among them, we can mention one coming from techblog.gr, which also confirms that the battery is removable, and that the handset will be released with a microSD memory card slot inside.

Apparently, the smartphone will land on the international market with model number D855 attached to it, and that this is exactly the handset version that can be seen in the aforementioned photo.

As mentioned above, the LG G3 is set to become official on May 27, when all of the necessary details on its features and hardware specs are officially announced.

Of course, we have already had the chance to learn a lot on the smartphone, and little is left unrevealed on what it will have to offer, given that LG has previewed the G3 in its homeland country.

On top of that, a leaked screenshot that has emerged over at evleaks.at has already confirmed the hardware capabilities of the phone, including the fact that it will arrive on the market with a 5.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 2k resolution (1440 x 2560 pixels).

Moreover, the handset will pack a 2.3GHz quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal memory. On the back, LG G3 will sport a 13-megapixel camera (supposedly capable of recording videos in 4k resolution), paired with a 2MP front camera for video calling.

The smartphone should go official with the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and the Optimus UI loaded on top. More on this will emerge soon, so keep an eye on this space to learn the news.
