LG G2 was confirmed last week to receive the long-awaited Android 4.4.2 KitKat update internationally, but customers in India were skipped from the initial rollout.

However, this is standard procedure when releasing a new software update. Given the fact that this is a staged rollout out, not all LG G2 owners receive it at the same time, so it’s normal for some countries to get it later than others.

Indian blog site Mobigyaan reports that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the Indian version of LG G2 has around 535MB in size. As mentioned earlier, the update is delivered in waves OTA (over the air), so LG G2 owners who have yet to be notified of availability can check for it manually.

According to the official changelog, aside from bringing the phone’s software to Android 4.4.2, the update adds lots of under the hood changes that greatly contribute to the overall performance of the LG G2.

In addition, LG G2 owners will notice that there’s a new and improved user interface, which includes enhancements like restyled status and navigation bars, a new full-screen mode, improved closed captioning support, and stronger security.

Regarding the battery life of the G2, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update should further improve battery efficiency. LG claims that the phone will play music more efficiently and will support the battery-saving location mode, thus extending battery life.

Another improvement added via Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is faster processing speed. Long-time LG G2 users will immediately notice a boost in speed while running applications. According to LG, the G2 should be 17% faster than before and web-browsing speed is improved with the Chromium engine.

It is also worth mentioning that the KitKat upgrade also adds Printing in the Cloud feature, which allows users to take advantage of the Google Cloud Printer, thus making it simpler to print documents via Wi-Fi or a Bluetooth connection.

Last but not least, the enhanced “Knock On” feature will be integrated as well. LG has confirmed that the responsiveness of LG’s Knock On feature has been enhanced, so G2 owners should now receive the full benefit of the new and improved feature.

Due to the large size of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat file, we recommend LG G2 users in India to download the update via Wi-Fi network. Have you received the update yet? Share your thoughts on the improvements it brings in the comments area below.
