Today, South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is set to make official a new flagship Android-based smartphone, namely the LG G2, which can now be admired in a series of leaked press photos.

Available courtesy of @evleaks, the aforementioned shots show us both the front and the back of the smartphone, though they do not bring along further details on the phone’s hardware specifications.

However, previous rumors on the device did provide us with the possibility to learn more on what LG might pack inside it in terms of hardware, and today’s announcement might confirm that.

LG G2 is rumored to hit shelves with a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) touchscreen display, as well as with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor packed inside.

Furthermore, the mobile phone should pack 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

LG is also said to have included a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the phone’s back, with full HD video recording capabilities, and complemented by a front camera for making video calls.

Moreover, the device is expected to arrive with support for nano-SIM cards, as well as with a 2160 mAh battery, and the usual set of connectivity options. On top of that, it should sport LTE-Advanced support.

Running under one of the latest flavors of Android, the smartphone will also feature a series of unique capabilities, such as a volume rocker placed on the back, below the camera, as can be seen in the aforementioned leaked press shots.

LG will make the new smartphone official today at a press event in New York, and might be ready to have it on shelves in its homeland market South Korea as soon as tomorrow, should previous rumors on the matter pan out.

The handset is expected in North America and various European countries in the September – October timeframe.
