South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has officially introduced the G Flex smartphone in its homeland market, just as promised last week.

The mobile phone comes to the market with a curved display and with a price tag of 999,900 Korean Won ($932 / €694) attached to it.

The handset was made official back in October with a large 6-inch curved display, a Plastic OLED panel (P-OLED) that LG claims to be both ultra-light and ultra-thin, in addition to being flexible.

LG G Flex sports appealing hardware inside, starting with its 2.26GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor with Adreno 330 graphics.

The new device also features 2GB of RAM inside, along with 32GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

Furthermore, it was launched with a 13-megapixel camera on the back, capable of recording videos in full HD resolution, as well as with a 1.2MP front camera for video calling.

The handset is powered by a 3500 mAh battery and runs under the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system.

It arrives in South Korea with support for LTE-Advanced networks, as well as with the usual set of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS receiver, and the like.

The Android-based mobile phone is 7.9mm thick at its thinnest point and weighs 177 grams with the battery included.

In addition to these features and capabilities, LG G Flex also comes to the market with a Self-Healing coating on the back cover, which should ensure longer lifetime for the device.

According to LG, this elastic coating was designed so as to easily recover from the usual scratches and nicks that smartphones receive during daily use.

Those who would like to learn more on what the Self-Healing technology can provide the owners of LG G Flex with should have a look at the video embedded below, coming from LG Mobile themselves. More details on the handset are available on LG's website.
