LG apparently wants to take the wearable world by storm

It appears LG isn't wasting any time when it comes to expanding in the budding wearable market. After making a lot of fuss around the launch of their first Android Wear watch, the LG G Watch, the company is looking to provide a wearable targeted specifically at toddlers.

The LG KizON is not a fancy wearable product and is actually a very simple device, which doesn't even come with a screen. Basically, it is meant to act as a tracking device, so parents won’t fret about not knowing where their child is.

There is only a single physical button on the watch, called “One Step Direct Call Button” that will allow the child to call a specific number which has been saved in the gadget’s memory.

Even more, it works the other way around, as the KizON will automatically accept a call from a parent or guardian if the child does not answer within 10 seconds.

The wearable will also send reports detailing the location of the little one via GPS and Wi-Fi throughout the day, so parents can be always in the know regarding the kid’s whereabouts.

Technical specifications might not be essential here, because as we already outlined, the KizON is a pretty simple device. Nevertheless, if you’re curios, we can tell you that the kid-friendly wearable relies on 64MB of RAM, 128MB of ROM and has a 400 mAh battery that can support up to 36 hours of battery life.

The wearable arrives in three colors (Blue, Pink and Green) and is suited for use for both little boys and girls.

For the time being, LG will start offering the KizON on the market in their home market South Korea, but availability will be expanded throughout North America and Europe in Q3 2014.

For the time being, we don’t have any information related to pricing, but we’ll come back to that as soon as we know more.

The launch of this kiddie-friendly wearable isn't unexpected. In the upcoming months, we’re probably going to see more and more tech giants arrive with similar products aimed at the little ones.

You might remember that VTech already launched the Kidizoom smartwatch, which is even capable of snapping a quick photo or shooting a video.

The Kidizoom has a 1.4-inch color touchscreen that can be customized with 20 different watch faces and comes pre-bundled with educational games. We’re not sure about the utility of such a product, especially in the educational game department, since the screen is obviously way too small.
