Smartphone sales fell 28% on-year during 2Q12, but that didn't stop LG's net profit from rising 46% compared to the same period in 2011.

Apparently, the company's growth in its home entertainment, home appliance and energy solutions divisions made up for the underwhelming performance of Google Android-loaded consumer electronics devices (tablets, smartphones).

The final sum (net profit) was $138 million, or 113.73 million Euro according to exchange rates.

All things considered, the company is doing rather well, particularly when compared to SanDisk, TSMC and, regrettably, Advanced Micro devices.

What does this mean for us consumers? That LG's IPS LED Monitors, Cinema 3D IPS Monitors, Smart TV Upgrader for Normal Displays, HDTVs with Two HDMI Ports and PIP and other miscellanea have proven more impressive than the competition.
