LG may not be making the same choices as Samsung in regards to its OLED TV, but that does not mean it is slacking off, as its newest product announcement all too clearly shows.

The company has announced the impending availability of a new, special monitor, bearing the name of D2500N-PN.

The name alone does not exactly do a great job of conveying what this new display product can or cannot do.

Though the screen size, at least, is easy to surmise (25 inches in diagonal), the rest of the spec sheet has to be read for all to become clear.

After all, one has to wonder what could possibly make a monitor of this form factor, even a high end one, cost 150,000 yen (roughly $1,923 / 1,463 Euro).

The answer to that is 3D support, and not just any 3D, but the type that does not rely on special glasses to work.

Once the TriDef software is installed on whatever PC the monitor gets linked to, the panel will know how to render 3D videos.

By using the built-in webcam to track the user's head movement, the images will be synchronized and aimed directly at the eyes.

Of course, it will be troublesome when more than one or two people want to watch it at the same time, but this is a pitfall that all such items have to deal with.

Moving on, the TN panel boasts a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, Full HD as it is otherwise known.

Additionally, the brightness is of 250 cd/m2, while the contrast ratio is of 1,000:1 (dynamic contrast ratio / DCR is 5,000,000:1).

Finally, LG outfitted its creation with DVI and HDMI connectors and managed to score a response time of 5ms. Unfortunately, there is no telling when, if ever, other regions will receive this product.
