Since it would be strange if laptops suddenly stopped showing up, it is no surprise to hear that a new pair of notebooks have been completed, this time courtesy of LG Electronics.

It appears that LG has finished working on its latest set of portable computers, powered, unsurprisingly, by Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs.

Two in number, they are additions to a series of systems that was released last year, under the name of Blade.

The newcomers are called P430 and P530 and have display sizes of 14 inches and 15.6 inches, respectively.

Obviously, the fact that they use the latest Intel CPU series (2nd generation Core processors) isn't what makes them stand out from the fold.

What they do have over many other laptops is their thin form factor, 40% thinner than some rivals, to be more specific.

The main asset that allowed for this slim shape is the LED-backlit HD (1,366 x 768 pixels) LCDs (liquid crystal display), which are, themselves, about half as thick as what similarly-specced notebooks utilize.

That said, whatever CPU is selected is backed up by the NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M graphics and up to 8 GB of memory, plus a 750 GB HDD and all the connectivity and I/O options one could expect,

“The Blade series is the fruition of many months of effort by LG engineers and designers to develop portable computers that deliver beyond the performance, looks and value that today’s consumers have come to expect,” said J.J. Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of LG Electronics PC Business Unit.

“Leveraging tomorrow’s technology and breakthrough design, LG will continue offer slim, beautiful notebooks that raise the bar in portable computing.”

Set to starts hipping in Europe, the Middle East, South America and Asia by the end of May, 2011, the P430 will be colored either Misty Blue or Titan Black. The P530 will come in June, in similar colors, but there has been no word on pricing for either.
