It would appear that the displays being showcased at CeBIT have a tendency towards the high-end and 3D feature sets, and LG has now added its name to the list of companies that have such a product on show.

Those end-users paying attention to what has been happening at this year's CeBIT may have noticed a severe shortage of news.

The trade show currently taking place in Hannover, Germany is one where many IT companies from around the world have convened.

As such, one would expect products to be coming out in droves, but with Intel, AMD and NVIDIA not doing much, an abundance of fresh devices did not come to pass.

Still, this doesn't mean other IT players aren't doing their best, and LG definitely played the high-end card when it put together the ‘Super 3D’ D2342P monitor.

As reported, it is a 27-inch product that can alternate between displaying content in 2D and, by means of 3D FPR (film-type patterned retarder), in 3D as well.

That said, LED backlighting is used for the TN panel, whose native resolution is, as one may expected from a top-grade consumer panel, 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (Full HD).

Meanwhile, the maximum brightness is of 250 cd/m2, which turns into 125 cd/m2 when operating in 3D mode.

Furthermore, the DCR (dynamic contrast ratio) is of 5,000,000:1 and the GTG (gray to gray) response time of 5ms.

Needless to say, in order to enjoy the 3D effect, one will have to use the obligatory pair of glasses, in this case polarized ones.

Availability is said to be slated for this month, when the newcomers start shipping in a bundle with software for 2D to 3D conversion that works on videos and photos alike. The price is of 299 Euro. A 25-inch successor (D2542P) should be ready by May.
