Whenever a company happens to make a seriously appealing piece of hardware, a press release usually follows, by LG, in this case, settled for allowing a pair of videos of a certain display of 47 inches.

The display industry has come a very long way over the past several years, not just in terms of image quality but also size, power efficiency and pretty much every other aspect.

At one point, TVs and monitors were large, bulky things that one could barely move around, and the amount of energy they used wasn't really easy on the power bill.

Then, displays started getting thinner and thinner, and lighter, even as image quality increased along with better backlighting technologies that reduced power consumption.

At the moment, the LED (light emitting diode) backlighting technology is growing most rapidly as far as adoption goes, since it adds brightness and clarity while using much less energy than CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lights).

The IPS technology is another one that appears to be getting more attention, especially if two certain videos are to be looked at.

Basically, LG demonstrated its recent, 47-inch IPS display panel and, while no actual specifications have been given, enough was shown to get a feel of the product's general capabilities.

Apparently, the IPS display has support for the Full HD resolution, 1,920 x 1,080 pixels as it were, though this isn't really surprising, considering that most self-respecting panel have it nowadays.

What might peak users' interest is the support for multi-touch input, as well as a degree of transparency.

Transparency is, mostly, just in its experimental stages on today's market, but displays with this feature can work well in public and professional applications.

In fact, advertisers and other digital signage proprietors are exactly who this so-called Window Display is aimed at, though availability and pricing details are unavailable.
