NetDevil has announced that its most recent project, LEGO Universe, will have a strong presence at the Consumer Electronics Show, which is taking place from January 7 to 10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The venue is very important for the LEGO-powered MMO as players will be able to get their hands on a demo version of the experience while also watching the first official trailer. The official release date is set for the second half of 2010 at the moment. LEGO Universe was initially set to be outed in 2008 and has since been pushed back several times.

One of the interesting elements of the CES presentation will be that members of a group known as LEGO Universe Partners will also be present at the official booth, guiding interested visitors around the new project. The LUP is made up of fans who are actually working closely with the team at NetDevil to make sure that the LEGO videogame is perfect when it is finally released.

LEGO Universe will mine the various brick-made settings for characters and background, which will allow players to design and build their own areas while cooperating with others to make sure that the LEGO world is kept safe from chaos creating enemies.

It seems that the game will not have a player versus player component and that collaboration is a must. Customization options will be made available to gamers around level thirty, with weapons and vehicles all ready to be created completely from scratch. There will be options permitting the sharing of all player-made content with the whole community or with a limited group.

LEGO Universe is a complex project and judging by the success of other LEGO-powered projects, like the Batman and Indiana Jones adventures or the Rock Band spinoff, it has the potential to attract a lot of players, both those interested in the magic of the colored bricks and those simply enjoying creating content.
