The most important Taiwan-based LCD panel makers like AU Optronics (AUO for short), Chi Mei Optoelectronics (also known as CMO), Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) and HannStar Display posted record breaking sells result for the last month. CMO is the definitive winner of the last month as the company saw a strong improvement in sales and shipments that increased by 15.24 percent reaching up to $30 million which translates into 4.5 million of units sold.

According to the news site DigiTimes, even if AUO reported record sales for July, its growth was maybe the slowest in both direct sales and shipments. The company's shipments increased by 0.1 percent while its sales grew by 3 percent as the company announced that it has allocated some resources for the production of medium-size LCD panels at its fifth-generation manufacturing plant that is specialized in panels for LCD monitors and notebook computer systems.

On the other hand, Taiwan based LCD backlight units (BLU for short) manufacturers and vendors like Radiant Opto-Electronics, Coretronic and Kenmos Technology had a less profitable month according to the respective companies. Radiant consolidated its revenues and receives an increase of 11.1 percent, reaching $84 million, while shipments of both TV LCD screens and computer monitors rose by 30 percent in July. Because of the decreasing demand for backlight units, Coretronic posted revenues that showed only a 32 percent increase per year, but down by 1.6 percent for the respective month. In terms of total units shipped, Coretronic achieved a number of 5.29 million units in July, down 3 percent from June when the company saw shipments of 5.46 million BLUs.

Another backlight unit manufacturer and vendor, Kenmos Technology, saw its revenues jump more than 20 percent in July as the company began shipping its LED based BLUs intended in the production process of the notebook screens.
